About Us

About us:

Garden City Growers roots were established in 1975 when a Dutch immigrant family left the floriculture center of the world to start a new life in Canada.  Generations of flower growing history travelled with the family to embark on this new adventure in a place known as the (Garden CityĆ· - St. Catharine's, Ontario. Initial crops included cut flower, cacti and greenhouse tomatoes before focusing on indoor potted plants and outdoor annuals.  Today, headquartered in Niagara on the Lake, Ontario - the (prettiest town in CanadaĆ· - the company operates 8 acres of year round indoor production and an additional 10 acres of outdoor seasonal field production to service customers throughout North America.

As our product lines have evolved to flow with consumer demands, so have our distribution channels.  Many of our products can now be found in grocery stores and big box stores through our own distribution.  However, the garden centers and flower shops that were so important in our history are still important today. We continue to service this sector by partnering with floral wholesalers and the Ontario Flower Growers Cooperative auction.

We invest in and utilize the latest in mechanical, biological, and computer  technology to produce and distribute the best plants at the most efficient cost.  At the same time, our production practices are ever mindful of the environment as we strive to minimize our carbon footprint through responsible recycling, waste management, and energy use.

A lot has changed since the early days, but many of the same traditional family values remain the same.  That immigrant family has now evolved to a family of staff - some of whom have been with company for over 30 years.

Flowers are more than a commodity, they are a passion.

It is this passion that drives our company forward.
